“A True Story”

Salomon "Sally" Perel (Marco Hofschneider) is a Jewish teenager separated from his family in the first days of the war, and all he wants is to stay alive. To do it he tells a German unit he is an orphan, and they take him in and call him a hero. Agnieszka Holland, adapting Perel's own memoir, keeps the camera close to his face as he learns to answer to a name that isn't his.
