Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

(2012)Directed by Hideaki Anno, Kazuya Tsurumaki, Mahiro Maeda96 min · PG-13Animation, Science Fiction, Action, Drama
“What was destroyed can (not) be rebuilt.”

Shinji Ikari (Megumi Ogata) wakes fourteen years after Third Impact, though he hasn't aged a day, and finds a ruined Earth where NERV has been dismantled. People he once protected now turn on him. Befriending the quiet Kaworu Nagisa (Akira Ishida), Shinji goes back to fighting the angels, only to learn the fighting may not stop there. Hideaki Anno builds the film on vast scale and sudden silence, so the dread lands in the quiet stretches.
