Even Cowgirls Get the Blues

“There have been many great drivers but only one great passenger.”

Sissy Hankshaw (Uma Thurman) is born in the 1950s with thumbs far too large for any glove, and instead of hiding them she hitchhikes across America with them. Gus Van Sant follows her down the road and onto a ranch of cowgirls run by Miss Adrian (Angie Dickinson), with Tom Robbins narrating his own novel. She keeps her thumbs out and her eyes on the next ride.
