Evening

“Her greatest secret was her greatest gift.”

Ann Lord (Vanessa Redgrave) lies dying while her daughters Constance and Nina (Toni Collette) sit at her bedside. Then she begins to speak of a single evening fifty years earlier, which they have never heard about, and of Harris (Patrick Wilson), the man she loved. Lajos Koltai moves between the quiet sickroom and the young Ann (Claire Danes) on that night, and the two women in the bed seem to be one person.
