“The storm awaits.”

In May 1996, two commercial expedition teams converge on Mount Everest's summit, drawn by the promise that money and preparation can conquer the mountain. Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) leads one group while Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal) heads the other, moving their clients up the slope as weather shifts and oxygen runs thin. The climb teaches that some forces resist the will entirely, and survival sometimes means accepting what cannot be controlled.
