“Such things still happen”

In 2021, a psychiatrist named Phillip (Casey Affleck) is left shaken when a client takes her own life. Her surviving brother James (Sam Claflin) soon appears, and Phillip brings him into the family home, introducing him to his wife Grace (Michelle Monaghan) and their daughter. Vaughn Stein's film turns on how little it takes for a grieving stranger to settle in among people who never planned to share their lives with him.
