Maddy Whittier (Amandla Stenberg) has spent her entire life inside her house, sealed away by a severe immune disorder that makes the outside world dangerous. When her new neighbor Olly Bright (Nick Robinson) arrives across the street, he begins coaxing her toward the windows, then toward possibility itself. As they fall in love, Maddy discovers that staying safe and staying alive are not the same thing.
