Evelyn Wang (Michelle Yeoh) is a laundromat owner drowning in taxes and marital doubt when she learns she can slip between parallel universes. Her daughter Joy (Stephanie Hsu) has become a being pulling her through infinite worlds to prevent catastrophe. The Kwan brothers flood each dimension with contradictory rules, asking whether Evelyn can save the people she loves if she has to become someone new in each world to do it.
