Evil Dead II

“Kiss your nerves goodbye!”

Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) takes his girlfriend Linda to a log cabin in the woods, and the weekend ends when he plays a tape of an archeologist reciting chants from the Book of the Dead. Whatever the recording unleashes takes over Linda first, then comes for him, and Sam Raimi stages the siege like slapstick. The film treats terror and absurdity as the same thing, and it will not let you laugh or scream without doing the other.
