Evolution of a Filipino Family

“Ten years in the making. Ten hours to witness a family's survival.”

A poor farming family in the Philippine countryside lives through sixteen years, from 1971 to 1987, while the Marcos regime tightens its hold on the land around them. Lav Diaz tells it across 624 minutes, which at the time made it one of the longest films ever made. Raynaldo (Elryan de Vera) and Kadyo (Pen Medina) keep working the fields, and the corruption and greed for power push in on them from every side.
