Exhibiting Forgiveness

Tarrell (André Holland) is a Black artist whose career is finally taking off when his father, La'Ron (John Earl Jelks), turns up unannounced, a recovering addict who wants back into his son's life. Titus Kaphar, a painter himself, directs this first feature from his own script. Tarrell has his wife Aisha (Andra Day) beside him and a painting practice to protect, and he has to decide how much of the past he can carry.
