Extraordinary Stories

Z (Walter Jakob) takes over a dead man's job and finds a notebook written in code, along with a map. Elsewhere, H (Agustín Mendilaharzu) is hired to travel down a river and look into the monoliths standing on its shore, while X (Mariano Llinás) arrives in a small town and sees a violent act. Llinás tells all three stories at once over four hours, and a narrator keeps them moving from chapter to chapter.
