Eye of the Needle

“To love a stranger is easy. To kill a lover is not.”

Faber (Donald Sutherland), a German spy known as the Needle, is running across wartime Britain in 1944 with MI5 agents close behind him, carrying what he has learned about D-Day. His flight ends on Storm Island, an inhospitable, sparsely inhabited stretch of rock off Scotland, where Richard Marquand sets Lucy (Kate Nelligan) in his path. The film is about what two people do when the war has put them in the same small place and neither can say who they are.
