“The Deadly Art of Illusion”

Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown) has given up movie special effects for a toy workshop and a life with his girlfriend Kim (Rachel Ticotin). Then her ex-husband Mike, a cop, asks him to stage a trap for a killer, and the night ends with two men dead. Richard Franklin sends Rollie to Leo McCarthy (Brian Dennehy), now a private investigator, and the two sit in a cramped office, Rollie's gadgets on the desk between them.
