Faces of Children

Jean Amsler (Jean Forest) is a young boy in the Swiss Alps who cannot make peace with his mother's death. His father, Pierre (Victor Vina), remarries, and the house fills with a stepmother, Jeanne (Rachel Devirys), and her daughter. Jacques Feyder shot much of this silent drama on location in Switzerland, and the film sets Jean against the girl, Pierrette (Pierrette Houyez), as the one sharing his home and a loss she did not cause.
