In present-day Helsinki, Ansa (Alma Pöysti) and Holappa (Jussi Vatanen) are two lonely people who meet by chance in a karaoke bar. Aki Kaurismäki sends them after each other through lost phone numbers, a wrong address, Holappa's drinking, and a stray dog who takes a liking to them. Ansa waits in her small flat, the phone silent beside her.
