Family Life

(1971)Directed by Ken Loach108 minDrama
“Nothing like it ever, ever before!”

Janice Baildon (Sandy Ratcliff) is a young woman living at home with her conservative, working-class parents (Bill Dean and Grace Cave), who treat every attempt she makes to find her own way as misbehaving. Ken Loach, working from a David Mercer script, adapts his own 1967 television play for the cinema. The family at the centre is meant to protect her, and it is the thing she is trying to get out from under.
