Fantômas

In Paris in 1913, a master criminal named Fantômas (René Navarre) steals, kills and slips away, never in the same face twice. Inspector Juve (Edmund Breon) hunts him, with the reporter Jérôme Fandor (Georges Melchior) trailing close behind. Louis Feuillade shot the five episodes in plain daylight, with a static camera and no flourish, so the crimes happen in front of you like a street accident you were never meant to witness.
