“Some secrets have the power to change the course of history.”

Pierre Froment (Guillaume Canet), a French engineer working in Moscow just after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, is asked to carry sensitive documents out of the country. They come from Sergei Grigoriev (Emir Kusturica), a senior KGB officer sick of what the Communist ideal has become under Brezhnev. Christian Carion, adapting a true story, makes a plain point: one man's disillusionment can shift the balance between two superpowers.
