Farewell, My Lovely

(1975)Directed by Dick Richards95 minCrime, Mystery, Thriller, Drama
“"I need another drink... I need a lot of life insurance... I need a vacation.... and all I've got is a coat, a hat, and a gun!"”

A hulking ex-con named Moose Malloy hires the private eye Philip Marlowe (Robert Mitchum) to find the girlfriend he left behind, a lounge dancer who has vanished. Marlowe takes the job, then picks up a dead client and a stolen jade necklace, and the trail runs through Helen Grayle (Charlotte Rampling). The film comes down to how far a man like Marlowe can dig before he finds what people paid to keep buried.
