When his Manhattan investment firm goes broke, Sherwood Nash (William Powell) turns to the dress trade, teaming up with his partner Snap (Frank McHugh) and the designer Lynn Mason (Bette Davis). Their plan is to sell discount shops cheap copies of Paris couture. William Dieterle directs, with Busby Berkeley staging the musical numbers, and Nash has to talk fast and hold his nerve in a business he never trained for.
