“Set your power free.”

Ruth (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is a woman with powers she cannot control, and she is running from people who want to study her. Years after leaving her family, the only place left to hide is the house where her mother Bo (Lorraine Toussaint) lives with Ruth's daughter Lila (Saniyya Sidney). Julia Hart brings the three of them together under one roof, and Ruth stands in the doorway of a home she once walked out of.
