Father and Son

Aleksei (Aleksei Neymyshev) keeps losing the girl he's seeing, because she won't take second place to the man he shares an apartment with in St. Petersburg. Sokurov films the two of them, Aleksei and his nameless father (Andrei Shchetinin), in a hazy half-dream, with the mother already dead and Aleksei dreading the day he joins the military. Between them is a closeness so complete that nobody else gets in.
