Father of the Bride

(1950)Directed by Vincente Minnelli92 minComedy, Romance, Drama
“You're invited... to a hilarious wedding!”

Stanley Banks (Spencer Tracy) sits alone among the leftover wreckage of a house that has just hosted a wedding, and he starts telling us how it got that way. It began the evening his daughter Kay (Elizabeth Taylor) announced her engagement, and every surprise and disaster since has run through him. Vincente Minnelli keeps the story close to the two of them, a father who cannot say what he feels and a daughter who is leaving him.
