Annie Banks (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) comes home from a semester abroad and announces she is marrying Bryan MacKenzie (George Newbern), and her father cannot account for the girl he thought he knew. George (Steve Martin) tries to be glad, while his wife Nina (Diane Keaton) tells him to come around. Charles Shyer keeps the camera close on Martin's face as the guest list, the caterer and the cost pile up around the house.
