Faust

Faust (Gösta Ekman) is an old alchemist whose faith cracks as plague spreads through his town. Mephisto (Emil Jannings) offers him healing, a young man's body and a second life, and the price is his soul. Murnau, working for Ufa in 1926, builds the pact from bargains made in a moment of desperation, which is how most of us would sign.
