Faust

Heinrich Faust (Johannes Zeiler) is a doctor in early 19th-century Germany who has searched every book and body for answers and found none. He becomes infatuated with Margarete (Isolda Dychauk-Ott), the sister of a man he killed without meaning to, and bargains his soul with a Moneylender (Anton Adasinsky), who is the Devil himself. Sokurov follows the two men through a German-language world of cramped rooms and a Moneylender's body that seems never to settle.
