Fear and Trembling
Amélie (Sylvie Testud) grew up in Japan and returns as a young Belgian woman, set on becoming Japanese before her one-year contract runs out. The firm hires her as a translator, yet each failure to read its unspoken rules sends her down another rung, and her supervisor Fubuki (Kaori Tsuji) enjoys every step. Alain Corneau keeps the camera on Amélie in the corridors and offices of the company, small against the desks and the men above her.
