Fear of a Black Hat

“The First Drive-By Comedy”

Ice Cold (Rusty Cundieff), Tone Def (Mark Christopher Lawrence) and Tasty Taste (Larry B. Scott) want to be taken seriously as the hardest rap group in America, and they call themselves N.W.H. A graduate student, Nina Blackburn (Kasi Lemmons), follows them for a year with a camera for her thesis. Cundieff, directing his first feature, plays it straight, and the group's grand self-regard gets tested by how closely Nina keeps watching them.
