Alison Drake (Ruth Chatterton) runs an automobile factory and wants nothing from the men around her that she can't get on her own terms. Michael Curtiz sets her among the executives and salesmen who work for her, a pre-Code comedy of a woman who has the boardroom well in hand. Then Jim Thorne (George Brent), an independent design engineer, walks into her office, and she has to decide how much of her control she will give up.
