Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool

“Love, just like in the movies.”

Gloria Grahame (Annette Bening), an Academy Award-winning actress whose femme-fatale days are behind her, takes up with Peter Turner (Jamie Bell), a young British actor, in Liverpool in 1978. Paul McGuigan builds the film from Turner's memoir of those years, when a bright, eccentric affair turned into a deeper bond. By the end, Peter is the one she turns to when she is ill, and the question is how much of her he can hold onto.
