“Is it for the children, for a memory, or for himself?”

Two years after the war with Sephiroth, the ruins of Midgar are slowly being rebuilt, and a sickness called Geostigma is killing people with no cure in sight. Cloud Strife (Takahiro Sakurai) wants no part of it, while Tifa Lockhart (Ayumi Ito) tries to hold their scattered friends together. Tetsuya Nomura sends a young man named Kadaj (Showtaro Morikubo) into the city, and Cloud has to decide whether to fight again.
