Flags of Our Fathers

“A single shot can end the war.”

John "Doc" Bradley (Ryan Phillippe), a Navy corpsman, wants to go home and forget the island where he spent the winter of 1945. A photograph by Joe Rosenthal of six men raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi has other plans, and Eastwood follows Bradley, Rene Gagnon (Jesse Bradford) and Ira Hayes (Adam Beach) from Iwo Jima to a country that wants them as heroes. Bradley keeps quiet about the men he treated, and the picture keeps getting bigger than he is.
