Kana Koumoto (Karen Miyama) wants a break from a small Japanese town where every day looks like the one before it. She and her friends build a bottle rocket to launch into space, and a robot crashes into it before it leaves the ground. Then a pink-haired woman, Haruko (Mayumi Shintani), turns up calling herself a Galactic Investigator, and Kana's closest friendships begin to shift around her.
