“Betrayed by power. Corrupted by love. Bound by honor.”

Cheated of their pay by a Lord in 1501 Italy, a company of mercenaries led by Martin (Rutger Hauer) takes revenge by kidnapping the bride of his son, Steven (Tom Burlinson). Paul Verhoeven sends them across a country already ravaged by plague and war, then into a castle where Agnes (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is held. Now Steven has to follow, and Agnes has to live among the men who took her.
