For Colored Girls

“Many voices. One poem.”

Twenty poems, twenty women, and not one of them has a name. Each is known only by a color, Crystal (Kimberly Elise) as Brown, Jo (Janet Jackson) as Red, Tangie (Thandiwe Newton) as Orange. Tyler Perry adapts Ntozake Shange's 1975 choreopoem by giving each woman a poem to speak, letting the verse carry the weight of what happens to them.
