For Me and My Gal

(1942)Directed by Busby Berkeley104 minRomance, War
“She's a Yankee Doodle Girlie!”

In the years before the First World War, Jo Hayden (Judy Garland) works the small-time vaudeville circuit, hoping for a spot at the Palace. She falls for Harry Palmer (Gene Kelly), a song-and-dance man who partners with her for the road, while Jimmy K. Metcalf (George Murphy) stays close. Busby Berkeley stages the numbers, and the film is about two people who want the stage and a life together, with a war coming for both.
