Henrietta "Henry" Robbins (Barbra Streisand) is a Brooklyn housewife who borrows money from a loan shark to back her husband Pete's (Michael Sarrazin) stock market investment. When the stock drops, she has to find a way to pay it back, and every idea she tries gets her in deeper. Peter Yates directs the scramble, and Henry keeps moving, sure she can fix this before Pete finds out.
