“Earthmen on a fabulous, peril-journey into outer space!”

In the 23rd century, Commander John J. Adams (Leslie Nielsen) brings starship C57D to Altair 4 to look for a scientific expedition missing for twenty years. The lone survivor, Dr. Edward Morbius (Walter Pidgeon), wants the crew gone and warns that an invisible force will destroy them if they stay. Wilcox shot it in color and CinemaScope, yet Morbius never wavers, living on that planet with his daughter Altaira (Anne Francis) and refusing every offer of rescue.
