Foreign Correspondent

“The thrill spectacle of the year!”

John Jones (Joel McCrea) is a crime reporter who wants a real story, and his editor sends him to Europe on the eve of war to cover it as a foreign correspondent. Alfred Hitchcock puts him at an assassination, then at the edge of a spy ring, with Carol Fisher (Laraine Day) and the English journalist Scott ffolliott (George Sanders) as his only help. The film argues, plainly, that a reporter who sees danger coming has a duty to say so.
