Fort Apache, the Bronx
“No cowboys, no Indians, no cavalry to the rescue, only a cop.”
Murphy (Paul Newman), a veteran cop who drinks alone, works out of a precinct in the South Bronx that the officers call Fort Apache, a station that feels like an outpost in enemy country. His young partner Corelli (Ken Wahl) rides the same streets, while Captain Connolly (Ed Asner) arrives to take over a neighborhood barely holding together. Daniel Petrie keeps the story with the patrolmen, and Murphy hides a stubborn sense of justice under all that cynicism.
