Fortress of War

“Surrender was not an option”

Before dawn on June 22, 1941, German guns open on the Brest Fortress, and the garrison wakes to shells landing on the barracks. Alexander Kott follows the first days of the defence through Lieutenant Kizhevatov (Andrey Merzlikin) and the commissar Fomin (Pavel Derevyanko), each holding a separate stretch of the walls. Years afterward, an old veteran remembers himself at fifteen, a boy in love with Anya, caught in the fighting beside her.
