Jessica Drummond (Barbara Stanwyck) runs an Arizona county as her own, riding the range with forty hired guns behind her. Griff Bonell (Barry Sullivan) arrives as the new marshal, a lawman who would rather not draw his pistol, and she finds herself drawn to him. Samuel Fuller shot it in black-and-white CinemaScope, and the long line of riders crosses the wide frame.
