Four Steps in the Clouds

In Italy in 1942, Paolo Bianchi (Gino Cervi) is a travelling salesman and family man on a long train ride when he meets Maria (Adriana Benetti), a young woman who is pregnant and unmarried. She is afraid to face her father, and Paolo agrees to pose as her husband for the length of one visit. Alessandro Blasetti follows them toward that front door, Cervi and Benetti close together on the train.
