Fox and His Friends

(1975)Directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder125 minDrama
“Survival of the fittest.”

Franz "Fox" Bieberkopf (Rainer Werner Fassbinder), a carnival performer with no money, picks the winning lottery numbers and walks away with DM 500,000. Soon Eugen Thiess (Peter Chatel), a polished young man from a wealthy industrial family, is at his side, and the money starts to feel like an invitation into a higher class. Fassbinder, who also directed, shows how little those who have much owe to the one who has less.
