“Daring to do it!”

The pull of a few friends who cannot stay out of trouble keeps a group of teenage girls moving through the asphalt of the San Fernando Valley, past the endless drinking, drugs and sex. Jeanie (Jodie Foster) looks after Annie (Cherie Currie) while their mothers are absent, and Adrian Lyne's first feature follows them toward the end of the disco era. Every adult in the picture is too busy or too careless to look after them, so they raise each other.
