“I shot my wife... prove it.”

Theodore Crawford (Anthony Hopkins) is a meticulous man who has just shot his wife and walked into a police station to confess. Young prosecutor William Beachum (Ryan Gosling) takes the case, certain it is open and shut. But Crawford knows the law better than anyone, and Hoblit tightens the screws until every detail becomes a trap and the courtroom feels like a locked room with no way out.
