Francisca
José Augusto (Diogo Dória), the son of an English officer, lets himself be drawn into love for Francisca "Fanny" Owen (Teresa Menezes), and he does not resist it. The writer Camilo Castelo Branco (Mário Barroso) looks on as the attachment hardens into fatalism, adapted from the novel by Agustina Bessa-Luís. Manoel de Oliveira makes this the portrait of a man who gives himself up to a love that costs him his name.
