Freeheld

“A true story of love and injustice.”

Why would a county refuse to pass a dying detective's pension to the woman she lives with? Laurel Hester (Julianne Moore), a New Jersey police detective, learns she has terminal cancer and asks that her benefits go to Stacie Andree (Elliot Page), her partner and a car mechanic. Peter Sollett follows the two of them against the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders, with Laurel's remaining time as the clock.
