“Her life is no fairy tale.”

In 1996 Los Angeles, Vanessa Lutz (Reese Witherspoon) sets out to find her estranged grandmother after her mother, Ramona (Amanda Plummer), is arrested. Matthew Bright, working from his own script, retells Little Red Riding Hood along the I-5, and her ride comes from a school counselor, Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). Their long talk in the car turns into a hunt, with the girl and the killer circling each other across the whole state.
